Perfect…

So today I was in a face to face meeting with three people who really have no sense of humor. I try to have a wit to lighten any situation but my comments fell flat on every level. So, when that happens my mind tends to wander. Much like sitting in church I think about everything except what I need to be. Today I was thinking about this:

If monkeys could talk, do you think they would provoke eachother into a fight by saying “fling it” instead of “bring it”?

Then came the awkward smile that I tried to yawn away only to look like I was stroking out. I say the meeting was a success.

  1. You have to love little maneuvers that disguise smiles or laughter at inopportune times. The other day, I noticed how artificially tan a man’s legs were at the gym and I couldn’t stifle my giggles. I finallly gave up on the crunch machine and left early. In retrospect, it really wasn’t that funny.

  2. I have a good friend who I always get into conversations like that with.
Then, at some point one of us will say, “Remember that time we talked about whether or not it hurts worse for elephants when they stub their toes”

Then, at some point one of us will end the conversation with: “Remember that time we talked about whether or not it hurts worse for elephants when they stub their toes” or whatever the current topic was.

  4. I don’t get as embarrassed about situations like that as I used to be. But I still get embarrassed. I’m sorry I can’t think of an example and I bet if I did find an example I would story top you so I think I am glad I can’t think of anything lol! Take care Bill.

  5. I love it when I’m walking down the street, and I remember something funny. And I start smiling and laughing to myself. Then I notice people around me are staring at me strangely and I realize they probably think I’m a crazy homeless person. Except I’m in heels. And I shower.

  6. I do that too essaytch there are some things I remember about my life that I can’t HELP but crack up and it happens at random times. It makes me feel like people think I am crazy if they have no idea what is so funny. I was at a memorial and that happened, my cousin farted or something, we had to step aside because we couldn’t compose ourselves. I was about I dunno, 15. He was 10. His older brother (about my age) said it was funny I admit but stop laughing you two it’s not respectful!! That made us laugh even worse. We just had to walk off to the side and get the laughing out of our system.

It was a place around a phone pole to put cards, notes, candles, etc. there because a policeman got shot in the line of duty in that area.

  7. William,

I make it a point to laugh out loud all the time. It is restorative. That’s why I spend a great deal of time here on your blog.

Call me soon..we’ll talk. Life beckons for us both.

    LK

  8. I have no idea what you’re talking about as my mind never ever wanders in meetings when I’m bored and then I’ll say something sarcastic or rude in my outside voice that I thought was the In My Head voice and then everyone in the meeting will stop talking and look at me.

Speak to me, Egor.
