I love it when people share their opinions or memories on this blog. It has always been a special part for me and when strangers from around the world reach out and say “hey, I remember that and this is what it meant to me”, I get pretty jazzed. But every so often there is one comment that takes the cake. Enter Jessica.
On the post “Peeing Your Pants Is The Coolest” , I wrote the trials and tribulation about growing up as a dork. Especially when social gatherings involved roller skating. Jessica needed to express here love for a certain roller-rink that brought her joy and me…terror.
Jessica- “i am thirteen and i just wanted to say i love sparkles roller rink, and it shares a whole lot of fun and spirit!!! plus, i just broke my arm a sparkles for being a daredevil,(don’t try this ever!!! ) I skated on one foot for 6 seconds, but sparkles staff helped me!!! gosh they are so generous!!!! i have been going to sparkles forever since i was 2 weeks old!!! ya gotta love sparkles!!! i will be going to sparkles a whole lot now, so look for me i’ll say hey, just dont stalk me. love you guys!!!
p.s. my cast is purple!!! lol”
Thanks Jessica. That was pure awesomeness and please come back and share more with us. But I don’t think you will see me at a Sparkles. Not unless the polarities of the Earth shift causing opposite day to take place. In that case, keep your eye out for a guy in a blue jumper and a bicycle helmet.
“I am going to be here, but don’t stalk me. but in case you want to. here is what I look like.”
sigh. the naiievete of youth on the internet.
1. don’t announce your “Hoochiemama” bday party on MySpace.
2. don’t post pictures that may ruin future job opportunities. or futz with current ones.
3. Pseudonyms, avatars and screen names are your best friends. utilize them. houstonjenny12 is NOT a screen name.
Oh, it is, isn’t it? I always get nervous for kids on the internet thanks to Chris Hanson but every s often they can bring a sense of joy to a silly blog.
And houstonjenny12 is not a screen name.
I like that you made “fashion” a tag…can’t decide if it’s for the carpenter shorts depicted in the photo or for the mention of a purple cast…either way, totally appropriate.
It was for the purple cast but kudos on the carpenter shorts. I had not noticed.
I just like the rockin’ shark shirt. I’d wear that now!
I would too! Guy Harvey rules my world.
That has got to be one of the most stellar comments I’ve ever read…
I don’t know, your comments are up there. 😉
To be fair, if they had a “sparkles” here in Canada, I might have thought of it…
Aaawww adorable! I broke my arm roller skating when I was 7, so I feel for ya little jessica!!!
I completely and utterly sucked at rollerskating a few months in 7th grade when I went to a roller rink called Skateworld every Saturday afternoon with a group of friends. They loved me as a friend so much they would take me every week just to see myself pull myself around the wall in the rink on skates which took just as long as it sounds to do a complete lap around that rink. I guess you can admire my dedication. I was just too chicken shit to get any momentum and to let go of that carpeted wall. You better not think I am joking I am very serious about this. Someday I will face my fears and become comfortable skating and actually be a pretty good skater. Someday. One of the young guys that worked there would skate towards me and ask me if I was alright lol. I always thought the guys were cool that wore those uniforms and skated around to check things out.
My online friend Chuck does a show on blogtv where he goes through Yahoo chat rooms and finds guys and shows them footage through his webcam of a young (about 13 years old) boy WITH CLOTHES ON and makes them do stuff for the camera just so we can mock them. He has an official sounding FBI disclaimer he sends at the end telling them the chat log was saved and the FBI will be in contact with them shortly he sends them just to see what they do. Some of the reactions are funny, them scrambling to cover their tracks etc.
Here are some clips, he records the reaction part and then saves them on a youtube channel.
Saw your conversation up there with kittymao thought I would tell ya 🙂
Yup, it rocks, but you know what ELSE rocks??!?!? YOU!!!!
😉 Yup, I’m back to blogging…back baby!!
Ah yes, Sparkles. I remember rolling from one end of the rink to the other – stopping myself on the wall because I couldn’t turn corners in skates. All this in a panda sweatshirt and glasses larger than my face. Classic Sparkles.
Hurray for daredevil (don’t try this ever!!!) Jessica!
