Fun With Phonics

There are somethings that are so funny in life, they couldn’t possibly be made up. This one landed in my lap at a Quicktrip. I saw it out of the corner of my eye and I immediately ran out of the store to the car and grabbed my phone so I could take a picture. I had to share this with you guys because, well, I care.

Ever wonder how you would phonetically spell “restroom” if you had a Hispanic accent? Here’s how….

See? You can’t make this stuff up! I definitely give an A for effort and if you look close enough you can faintly make out a scribble mark over the extra E. I can’t rip too hard on this person because I’m not even close to being bilingual. I get my Spanish from Dora The Explorer. Right, Dora?

Si, el dickhead!

  1. Hahaha….this is awesome. I had one of these moments just the other day. I was driving down Roswell Road and on the marque just below the sign for “The Love Shack” read…..”Come see ower selection of pipes!!”….WOW…..O-W-E-R……I laughed my ass off all the way home. Amazing that the genius who didn’t know how to spell “our” managed to muster up the correct spelling for the word “selection”…go figure.

  2. Oh the English language is a cruel, sinister bitch.
I do really enjoy watching it get mangled, though. The way we butcher Japanese –
    Doh Moh Our-Ee Ga-toh-
It’s time we received a taste of our own medicine.

And PS- Dora probably listens to Brujeria.

  3. I’m constantly amazed at people’s lack of ability to get “your” and “you’re” straight. Those two, and the whole “there/they’re/their” thing really sticks in my crawl. Just sticks right in there.

I now have this image of Dora teaching kids the words to “God Hates Us All.”

  4. I didn’t. This was actually a while ago and I am curious to see if it is still up. This blog was on auto post from a few weeks ago.

  5. Damn if I wasn’t driving down Roswell Road again today only to see that the brilliant staff at The Love Shack have yet to catch their mistake….holy wow….it’s been at least a few weeks. Hahahaha.

Speak to me, Egor.
